Alpha Kappa Chi
About Us
•
Our sorority prides itself on the idea that individuals are welcome and that
they help complete our circle of sisterhood. We dedicate ourselves to the development of Love, Beauty, and Grace.
Alpha Kappa Chi (AKX) was founded at Lake Superior State University in 1978.
In 1988 we decided to try the benefits of becoming an international sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon
(ΔΦΈ).
In 1998 we decided to become a local sorority, AKX; this means that this sorority is designed
by the women whom founded it. Being local also means that Alpha Kappa
Chi is unique to only LSSU.
Since 1978, over 300 women have been members of this sorority and have found
some common element that has brought them together. These women share bonds
that are never-ending.
Alpha Kappa Chi is a social sorority, which means that we accept all women, no
matter their major. Women’s majors have ranged from Nursing to Education to Engineering.
In Greek our letters (AKX) mean Love, Beauty, and Grace. We try to emulate these three
qualities in everything that we do. Our colors are black and white with an accent of red, and our flower is the red rose.
