Just tell me where Summary: Terry tries to block out his true feelings for the old man, while Bruce struggles to reign in Terry's recent spate of wild behavior. Notes: Thoughts in <>. **** for flashbacks. Late evening Wayne Manor Terry closed the door behind him as he left Wayne Manor. He was supposed to be heading home, but paused to lean back against the dark stone of the wall. After a moment, Terry climbed in his car for the drive home. He was determined to put all thought of Bruce and the suit from his mind. **** Early evening Wicker Park Terry and Dana walked side-by-side, silently through the park. The silence was awkward, even more so than dinner had been. Terry knew he should say something but hadn't a clue where to start. Dana looked up as she threaded her fingers between Terry's and said, "I'm glad you were able to get tonight off. Its been forever since we spent this much time together." "Yeah, well Wayne keeps me busy. There always seems to be something else he needs, some reason to stay later or work an extra day," Terry responded, not knowing how to tell Dana the truth. "Still, you need some time for yourself and some time for us, too. He needs to be reminded what it was like to be young and have a life?" They made the rest of their way through the park in silence, Terry still not knowing what to say to Dana and giving up his half-hearted search for the words. As they arrived at Dana's door, she turned to him and closing her eyes, tilted her head back for a kiss. Leaning down, Terry quickly brushed Dana's lips with his own. "'Night," he said as he just as quickly turned to leave. By the time Dana opened her eyes Terry was gone. **** Nearly home, Terry stopped at a red light only to notice he was in front of The Zone, a club he frequented before he'd meet Mr. Wayne. A rowdy group was standing on the sidewalk just beyond the club entrance. Terry was concentrating on the light when one of the group called out, "Hey, Terry! Nice ride." Terry looked over to see Kenny Miller waving at him while walking to the curb. Before Terry could react, Kenny was leaning in the open passenger window. Terry recoiled in disgust as he caught a whiff of Kenny, still the center of all things decadent. Kenny had been drinking and, if appearances were any indication, engaging in a few other pleasures as well. Kenny held out his hand and said, "Terry, where've you been, man? We don't see you anymore. And where'd you get the ride?" Terry wanted nothing more than to pull away at top speed, but something held him back. "Work isn't all bad, Kenny." Honest work don't buy this. Come on, join us. Tell us all about it; unless we ain't good enough for a rich guy like you." Terry knew Kenny was, if nothing else, a gregarious drunk. He also knew time with his old buddies would take his mind off problems, both Dana and Bruce. "Sure, why not!" he heard himself say before his conscience, which sounded suspiciously like a grumpy old man these days, could be heard to protest. he told himself as he parked and walked back to his old friends. The next morning An unfamiliar apartment Terry awoke to blurry images of a strange room and an awful smell. he thought as he started to look around the room. He managed to take note of several other people draped on and around various pieces of furniture before deciding knowledge wasn't worth the effort just yet. He drifted back into oblivion with unheard music pulsing through his aching head. ______________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
