Corona's lifelong dream was to work for corona. Her real last
name
is Cemel (SEH-mel) but as a high ranking sister she lost her last name
to
the goddess. She spent all of her life working to better herself
to
better her position in the goddess of the sun's eyes. She even
went
to school at the temple grounds when she was a mere 5. She
received
less than standard marks in her mental schooling but for her lack of
mental
intelligence she made up for in her prowess with a sword.
Superior
and excellent were normal for her when it came to archery and battle
tactics.
The temple in Ruhebin was more than happy to take her in at the age of
16.
She was trained in as frontline material just as everyone else
was.
She had Commander Heather for a classmate on occasion, but commander
heather
had far more intelligence than her and thus was promoted higher up upon
graduation
of cadet classes, but Thorna would not give up so easily. She
became
obsessed with proving herself worthy of commander rank. After her
skirmish
with Cirra, Thorna worked doubly hard to re-gain her status as a
sergeant.
She needed to become right handed to extract her revenge upon the
insubordinate
Cirra. Those years were tough on her she barely slept.
Finally
on the 10th anniversary of the shattering of the crystal of balance the
high
order came in from the secretive temple in the center of the
complex.
After months of coaxing, Heather had gotten through to them and managed
to
get Thorna's request for vengeance heard. Thorna held the paper
in
triumph, it read along the lines of an approved attack
order.
She didn't even wait for sunrise to begin the operation. She
would
be the first of the onslaught to silence the ex-sister. She made
it
a promise to herself that she would be the only one that the sisterhood
would
need. She caught up with Cirra on the planes of Arroway
fornicating
herself with a male. Thorna made a note to herself to add this to
the
ex-sister's long list of charges. Thorna rushed Cirra kicking her
off
the man, but something happened that she didn't expect, her mind was
wracked
and warped that night to the point of being blocked out of her
memory.
When she awoke she was naked and alone in the same field... without her
womanhood.
One name ran around and around in her head... Cirra did this... as if
by
some desperation the memory kept itself running around in her
mind.
She came up to a kneel and gathered her armor up, re-clothed herself
and
made her way back to Ruhebin with her news of failure.
As standard procedure, the next step was to send two sisters against
the
renegade. The priestesses chose to make this fight a personal
one,
they sent Cashmere Alpaca with Thorna to attack Cirra, but without
Cashmere's
knowledge. Cashmere had quite the fixation on Cirra before she
was
expelled from the sisterhood. Cirra killed her friend before she knew
what
the sisterhood had done and the mind-bender that she had taken in to be
her
husband drove Thorna off again.
The third and last bout with Cirra should have been the last.
Four
Lieutenants were sent after Cirra, including Thorna, none
returned.
Thorna learned that there were more intense problems to be had; a
secret
army had risen up from the shadows. The army was composed of
monsters
and humans alike. Thorna hated to relent her mission, but there
was
a greater purpose to work towards.
For the time being Thorna teamed up with Cirra's band of members,
including
the now undead Cashmere and an even greater surprise a priest of
Araxis.
The days lagged on as they hunted the elusive army. Thorna
couldn't
help but speak with this priest and get to know him better, possibly
because
he never stopped talking at nobody in particular.
Surprisingly enough, the priest began to grow on the sun paladin and
they
fell in love. Of course they would never openly show their
affection
it was pure secrets, perhaps that was some of the fun of it. She
admired
his bizarre eyes and that calm quiet voice of his that would sometimes
be
lost in the background. He was so subtle and calm, nothing like
she
had been taught about men. They fought valiantly together, and
their
styles of fighting complimented each other, so perfectly like puzzle
pieces
that interlocked together. Much like one fighting unit with four
arms.
Many times their different faiths would conflict with each other.
He
would pray in the eve and she would pray in the morn, this among many,
many
character conflicts were making the relationship rocky. One
instance
Torem knocked out an opponent while he was still on the ground and had
to
go through a whole day of complaints about honorable conflict from
Thorna.
Sadly, Thorna now rests in peace in an honorable grave in Arroway's
graveyard,
she died in vein defending the tiny town of Arroway from the illusive
army
that she chased all the way from Makoolnakal (mah-KOOL-nakal).
"As an enemy, she was bothersome, as an ally she was trying... but as
my
friend and love, she will be sorely missed. Perhaps my pursuit of
knowledge
isn't the only thing that drove me to leave Callor... perhaps I just
need
some time alone to think, some time away...
Thank you Thorna for your stubbornness, thank you for your smile, thank
you
for the kick in the pants when we were dawdling, thank you for opening
your
mind..."
--Torem of Arroway--
"We were never in conflict, me and you. You were always there
with
an open ear even when your job and life were straining your time and
stress
levels. I don't blame you for following your orders and fooling
me
into battle with Cirra once more, you couldn't have known the
repercussions...
I take with me strength that you taught me, even when I think things
are
hopeless, I have your strength. Safe journey, Thorna of the
Corona."
--Cashmere Alpaca Dorugon--
"Thorna... that name still sends chills down my spine sometimes.
I
lived in fear of you for quite some time. But I always knew, in
the
back of my head that you would come around to accept me for what I've
become.
Not only did you come around, you went beyond that and became the one
foothold
that we could all depend on. The one great constant for us
all.
I hope that you fulfilled every ruhebinian's dream of joining Corona in
the
afterlife... Had this happened a mere month before now, I would have
said
good riddance, but you showed me that even the most stubborn of people
can
change, can turn their life around on a dime... safe journey,
Lieutenant
Thorna Cemel of the Corona.
--Cirra of Arroway--
