U3 held his head all they way across the old marred
desert, which had now extended itself over most of the southern continent.
He was so depressed he didn’t even feel like flying to get rid of this
stress. His eyes had been eaten away by the sand and salt that the
desert was made of. By the time he got back to the destroyed
town of Cirra, it had become one of the most lavish and advanced cities
before the great battle he had with Dragon of Province Alpha, the Pharaoh
at the time. Since before then, the Ecliptian population that sustained
the building, since the Ecliptians were wiped out the city had gone into
neglect.
The sky had its usual dark black clouds that gave
the planet its greenhouse heat. The only comfort that his planet
supplied him was the pure nitrogen that had replaced most of the oxygen;
he could turn his air purification node off. He hadn’t turned the
thing off in so long, the silence startled him for a few moments.
He quickly got over the feeling of freedom and took a deep breath with
his own lungs as he moved into the front doors that was the base of operations
for the rebellion of Dragon kind. His eyes regenerated quickly after
he entered the last barrier to the endless desert.
They opened to see the shining walls of the base, he saw a few mindless
robots skitter from the floor to their alcoves in the walls. It was
a large hall, but not lavishly large. He could almost see himself
in the wall of the hall, but the metallic insects that took the place of
actual human hands to clean the place had scratched the metal too much.
U3 glided across the floor, making a little clicking sound. He passed
two doors about 20 ft apart from each other before he came to the main
doors. They hissed letting their different concentration of nitrogen
into the hallway. The fluorescent lighting wasn’t any different from
the entrance chamber, but the middle held a reactor that powered the whole
base. It was a calm glowing soft green aura and a white center that
held the reactions of the X-com power nodes. The nodes were set just
so that they would stream the A-com waves they used to exist into each
other. The nodes weren’t quite comprehendible with U3’s current eyes,
but it would have to do, he was low on power.
U3 barely thought as he rounded the reactor to the
computer core. A row of computer system sockets lay before him.
One for each member of the revolution, twelve in all. The hurting
had stopped long ago, now there was only numbness when he stared at the
reminder that he was alone still, and that his family was still dead.
He angrily yanked Ar5000 from his back plugged it into the wall.
It logged itself into the main computer.
Ar5 spoke through the main system at U3, “Hey! It’s not my fault that
you failed.”
U3 replied angrily, “WHERE DID I FAIL!”
“Calm down! I’m accessing the current records...”
U3 did calm himself some, “I grow tired with these
constant delays, I want to see the results of my labor, I want to see my
love again, I want to see the green trees of Cirra...... New Arroway....”
Ar5000 tried to say something comforting, “well,
you could try to get them to forgive each other again, this time without
involving the Green Dragon.”
U3 held the base of his nose where his eyes changed
over to his snout. He looked down and got a better smell of the time period
that was home, the rich nitrogen made the whole place smell much like his
silt pyramid.
U3 let the nitrogen out, “No, no, we are not messing
with that if you remember the last time zone that we messed with like that,
whew was that not fun to get out of...”
U3 heard a familiar completely un-emotional voice
from behind him that he recognized as S3 (Snake-bite 3000), “Let’s see
if you can remember who made up Illusia in the first place.”
The blank stare of S3 looked at U3, he could tell
that S3 was seeking praise but he would not give it. S3 was in worse
shape than U3 was, U3 had only lost his legs in the battle, S3 had lost
his jaw, his arms, his legs, and his eyes. It was much like looking
at a thing rather than a dragon of Mirage, and that wouldn’t be much off.
U3 answered equally bland. “It was a con-joined
effort between the both of us, if you don’t forget. You supplied
the power, I supplied the visions.”
S3 made many more mechanical noises especially when
he slithered, he backed up into a special custom-made socket for his computer
system. U3 could almost see the smug look S3 gave him.
U3 knew that S3 hated to be reminded of his imperfection,
“Wipe that smirk off your face.”
He laughed hysterically as S3 moved his head away
from U3’s sight.
Cirra pierced U3’s mind a scolding, “U3! That’s
an awful thing to say! apologize!”
Hearing Cirra being so angry at such a little thing
made him sad that he had become so animal like as to not notice another
dragon‘s feelings, “S3, I’m sorry, I didn't mean to be so mean, It was
in-sensitive of me.”
S3 looked over at him, expressionless as ever, but
after 500 years of living together made U3 equipped to decipher the action,
it was an action of shock and confusion.
S3 replied, “what.”
U3 sneered, “I’m learning to be sensitive again,
that was the agreement with Cirra.”
S3 replied, “well, thank you I guess, for trying
to be sensitive to my emotions, or what is left of them.”
U3 chuckled and turned to the old bed of rock that
was the Prime Sea Dragon’s from so long ago. He brought a caring
hand out to touch the oddly soft rock.
U3 felt his eyes, “And my emotions are saying that
I need to sleep, it’s been a long trip.”
S3 replied, “I will stay up and awake you if something
of significance is found by Ar5000”
U3 made a quick smile, and turned to the stone,
he felt the wetness of it and put his head down, for a well deserved nights
rest.
He had a restless sleep, filled with the screams
of the Shorp Empire. It was also filled with the yells of the Republic
of Dragonia not wanting to be asorbed into the Pharaoh, and the many times
he heard Callisto’s scream in pain as she died.
U3 awoke to the soothing voice of Ar5000, “U3 of
Cirra, Ultimate 3000, Pyramid holder, avenger of Drag-”
U3 interrupted, “Shut up! Don’t you dare finish
that title... what is it?”
Ar5 said pleasantly, “There is something that crossed
my mind as I was searching the new information.”
“What is it?”
Ar5 continued, “There is a new entry in the dimension
of Hell... one made by an unknown source...a reptilian unknown source.”
U3 rolled his eyes, “oh really? One of my
other selves has been busy I see. Well, what does that give us?”
Ar5 answered, “A few new records of accounts of
the final Cirrian. Two.... three more...”
U3 smirked, “Do tell,”
Well, you have another debt thanks to your other
you, a few years helping Lucifer with demeaning tasks.”
U3 held his head, “You know what, I’m sick of his
nagging, make him ignore that last transaction.”
Ar5 hummed and stated, “transaction erased... but
none the less, you still want to know what happened don’t you, why Dragonia
IV is still the way it is?”
U3 gave a silent ‘of course answer.
“Well, the first two include Callisto’s involvement
in the final days of Dahok... resulting in her death.”
Ar5 paused to let it sink in, U3 had never gotten
used to hearing the sentence: Callisto is dead. He brought his hand
to the place where his eyes changed over to his snout again.
U3 chose his words carefully, “How long.... Since
I left.... How long?”
Ar5 hated to say it, but it had to, “one month”
U3 held his hands to the side of his head and repeated
the statement out of disbelief, “one month.... I tried forty times, and
all it gave us is one month!? Who?”
Since U3 would be angry in any event, Ar5 answered,
“The champion of Amphipolis... “
U3 let a tear fall, “Xena... Condemn that....
Prepare a portal.”
“I know... Should I alert S3 of your.... absence?”
U3 smiled at the computer core, “tell him to meet
me in the halls... tell him now...”
* * * *
S3 slithered into the sacred hall of Cirra on the
right side of the complex. S3 tasted the air with his tongue.
He could tell that U3 had been there about a few minuets ago. He
smelled the faint smell of pine that Cirra emanated. He heard the
slight humming of U3’s computer system. His FASE (Faded Aura Sight
Engine) picked up U3 a few meters away. S3 moved his body across
the metallic plates that lined the floors.
U3 was going to hold the sword of Cirra again.
The ancient Terran weapon was ridiculously out of date. It was very odd
to see such an advanced room hold such a thing; it was almost laughable.
“Well, what is it.” S3 said.
U3 didn’t look at S3 but said to the sword, “I’m
sick of getting mere seconds and months tacked onto her life, I’m going
to take matters into my own hands, I’m going to clone her.”
S3 replied, “You tried that before, and Xena stopped
you”
U3 looked slyly at S3, “but what if Xena isn’t around
to stop me?”
S3 would have looked confused but he couldn’t make
a motion to look like that so he said, “I do not understand.”
U3 came over and knocked on S3’s head, making a
clanging sound, like a can of peaches, “Hellooo! It sounds like you have
something in there! Use it! We have all time on our side, we just
have to wait until we find the exact date that Xena dies and then we find
the body of Callisto and make a clone. It’s so simple! I don’t know
why I didn’t think of it before!”
S3 could only respond un-emotional, “That is a wonderful
idea, I’m all behind you, but. Joxer couldn‘t remember the place of burial
even for Gabrielle, how do you expect to get it from him.”
U3 smirked, “This is the part you will hate, I have
to witness myself, leave nothing to chance.
S3 changed his voice to a creepy sound, the one
he used for battle, “Yyyyew banned that sssssssection of time for all eternity
asssss sssacred. No tainting at all.”
U3 said with purpose, “I did that because it was
honorable at the time, but this is cutting all the strings, no holding
back, we do this once, and we do it right.” U3 calmed some, “Tell me Snakebite
of the Mirage family, do you not wish to see the sun burn the desert again?
Do you not want to see the section of jungle that you claimed in 2401?
To see a cloud that wasn’t as dark as Hell itself?”
S3 shook his head back and forth once, “Dew it,
just don’t come to me if yew screw us over by going back tew not even a
planet tew come home tew.... Knewing yew, yew have already started the
process for traveling there...”
U3 continued his happy mood and smiled at S3, “Yes,
Ar5 is doing it as we speak, “U3 changed to serious, “I will record the
death of the final Cirrian for you to review as well, not to worry.”
U3 then patted S3 on the shoulder as a new table
appeared in the temple, one that U3 couldn’t look at yet. It held
an eyepiece, and a word above it.
S3 replied, “I have faith in your abilities U3 of
Cirra”
U3 continued to leave the hall as S3 moved towards
the new table, it was a piece of metal... with a red gem in the middle.
He used his identical-looking computer system (the X.M.P.S.) to pick up
the item. He cocked his head as he analyzed it.... It was some sort
of focusing device that was mainly used for observation through the eye,
but was this a good or a bad sign?
An engraving appeared on the table, it read, “Through
the mind’s unfathomable will the Universe hath it’s beginnings, in my boundless
wisdom are the types and patterns of all things...”
