As advertised by the previous owner

Allegedly the original UK press car 2 previous owners with the last one being my next door neighbour since 1986. The car was bought directly from Mercedes Uk by the then Times Motoring editor as he loved the car so much.

It remained with him until his tragic death but hadn't been driven for several years. I always admired the car and purchased it from the family to return to its former glory, however work and other commitments have meant I must now sell it to a good home

Car comes with a full history file, letters from Mercedes UK handing the car over and the original specification receipt. Cosworth bodykit factory fitted, the car originally had the Cosworth interior until 1986 when the car passed to the previous owner. Unfortunately his wife could not get on with the bucket seats and a standard interior was fitted by Mercedes. As a demonstrator it is fitted with ABS, all electric windows, mirrors and sunroof, all working well. Auto gearbox very good and alloy wheels

Roof lining and interior immaculate with little wear. I MOTed and used the car last year following new leads, battery and a few small parts. I also had the car checked over with a rolling road printout confirming power is as per the original. The receipts also include a full engine refresh at 61k miles. The engine oil is still clean. Mechanically very good in all aspects except for the exhaust centre section which will need replacing. A straight body with need of TLC which was the plan, to replace front wings and repaint. A definite classic 80s car going the right way in value. I want it to go to a good home.

In my ownership

I purchased this car for a wedding ceremony to Italy , 1100 miles...

The trip started badly, even before we set off , somehow a day before we managed to split the one of the power steering hose and two flat tyres! Pirtek saves the day with the hose fittings, i filled the tank with shell vmax and injector cleaner...off we set

27hrs later with a very slow leak on one of tyres being the only issue and averaging almost 40mpg..we made it without any issues

My plan was to sell it once back in the UK , but it proved so reliable i thought i'd give the TLC the previous owner mentioned

The following was done and pics can be seen in Repairs

1. Removed the Cosworth body kit ( original and sold)

2. Repaired all the rust caused by the body kit using galvanised steel

3. Repaired the rear arches using galvanised repair sections from Germany

4. Sourced an early trim kit
