What is in a name? Specifically Our Name: "Crowning Moments Childbirth Services"
What does the image above represent? To some it represents an image of what a woman has that no man will have as the carrier/barrier of life! To others it is an old wives tale for children, of the stork bringing home a new sibling and explains procreation for that child! If you look carefully you will notice that the stork is a male, as am I. For us at Crowning Moments Childbirth Services it represents the simplicity of childbirth and our committment to help you arrive at your destination -as an empowered woman and parent/family! Lets begin with the facts as a definition of the words
Crowning: The stage in childbirth towards the end of the second stage of delivery. It is process where the largest circumference and the top of the neonates (baby) head presents its' self to the world at the last part of the birth canal. It is at this point that molding occurs, (molding: is the shaping of the fetal head as it adapts itself to come through the vagina and birth canal orfice (opening).) It is also kwon as the (vertex: {Latin} for summit)-the highest point! For women giving birth there few events in thier or thier families life that can have more of an impact than the birthing of a new family member! For the neonate I can think of nothing that is more of a high point in thier life!
Moments: The pleural form of Moment. (moment: {Latin=momentum} force of motion acquired by a moving object, as a result of continuance of it's motion. Impetus: {Latin} A minute portion of time, an instant, an importance, as in influence or event consquence!
Childbirth: The natural event and process of giving birth. Syn. with parturation.
Services: The plueral form of Service: The occupation or status of a servant: Preformance of labor for the benfit of an other or at an others command. Spiritual serving as shown by obedience, good works, and Love. Conduct contributing to the advantage of an other or others. Any result of useful labor which does produce a tangible benifit, one that is realized by the mind.
As a Doula/Nurse I am in the service of my client -who is both the mother/neonate an inseperatable family unit, the significant others who maybe in attendance as support and family for the mother/infant! My focus is the mother (since as position pages on this site and other sites state -if it is good for mom then it is good for baby), by means such as maintaining eye contact, intuatively anticipating her needs and wants, catering to her wants (Birth Plan), and empowering her to achieve her fullest potential through education, assistance, and support!
Key words from the above noted definations are: adapting, Momentum, instant,importance, natural life event, process, servant, benefit, an others command, Spiritual, advantage, and contributing! Hence the "Crowning Moments Childbirth Services" name.
