CHANNELS 20-32 programmed with local frequencies

----------------------------------------------

I was visiting with Austin Texas DPS and was told that they are planning on having 2 Dispatchers. One for North and One for South.. They said Waco Already has 2 dispatchers. Just curious to know what frequencies they use .. if it's 2 frequencies or just 2 dispatchers on the same frequency? I suspect one is on 155.46 and the 2nd is on 155.445, but we can't do that in Austin because Capitol Police is on 155.445.

Here are some other Notes for DPS Austin District Office: The Office is located at 9000 N IH 35. just south of Rundberg. Just look for a big antenna in the sky. Although not exact this is a breakdown of the Austin area units: The 3rd digit indicates region or area you work: 6210-6219 East of I35 6220-6229 SW Austin West of I35 South of River 6232-6239 Williamson County Units 6450-6459 Bastrop/Burleson/Lee counties 6260-6269 San Marcos/Hays County 6290-6299 NW Austin West of I35 North of River 6640 L & W 6670 L & W Rangers: 840 841 842 907 980 984 Fugitive 7700's Narcotics 8600's Special Crimes 7710

Ch 1 Primary Austin 155.46 (KKD 303) Ch 2 Car to Car on 155.460 (Dispatcher can't hear) Ch 5 Special Operations 155.505/ Ch 6 is same frequency direct Ch 8 Capitol Command Post 155.445 (they are over state buildings in the city) * Ch 11 New Braunfels Repeater 159.210 Ch 12 Paleface Repeater - they said most of the troopers don't even know about it. 159.210 Ch 18 159.090 Special Operations Ch 32 155.475 Nationwide * The actual Capitol DPS officers on are 460.125 I have no idea why they chose UHF

They also had Ch 8 Listed on the console in 2 places.??????????????????????? They can monitor/Transmit on DPS Capitol 155.445 Labeled Ch 8 They can monitor/Transmit on Intercity. I assume 155.37 (Ch 4) , not sure about monitoring 154.950 (Ch 3)

On the back wall (beside the shotgun) is a "Marine Radio" but he said it was an HF radio. It was off but they test it once a month with other DPS stations Callsign WPAH460 I found a scanner but it's at the end of the console..turned facing away from you.. and it is preprogrammed and I guess they don't touch it or mess with it. They do have it hooked to "the antenna" so reception is wonderful. They have a midland programmable radio beside the scanner but it stays off and don't know if they even know how to work it. Usually just after midnight. All troopers go off duty (10-42) So the dispatcher is alone. (now you know why there is a shotgun on the back wall)

They take a lot of phone calls 90% from other agencies asking how to do something on the computer or If they can run certain checks. They also call for another search which is considered a manual lookup, but done on a computer also. I think it's another database that no one else has.

There is a phone on the wall that is a link.. it's actually like an intercom to all DPS offices and all weather stations in the state. If a tornado is sited.. they get on the phone and make an announcement. I guess it's mainly for weather. You can hit the button and you will be talking to all DPS Dispatchers in the state at the same time.
