Hello All,
Over the last 7 weeks, I've been working with the Texas State EOC in Austin battling the wildfires (from behind a desk). Since May of 98', the EOC has been activated due to the wildfires across Texas. They are in their 79th day of activation over the fires. The DPS Division of Emergency Management bought approximately 20 radios for the TX Army National Guard helo's that aid in fire fighting. I'll post these freqs. near the end of this message.
Looking through some of the 1500 e-mail messages I have received since I went to Austin, I notice a question about the Waco and Decatur Staging Areas. As of August 21st, 1998, Waco and Decatur have the following assets assigned:

Well, that about wraps up the fire fighting information I have. Once I get my e-mail sorted out again, I'll post some other presets (i.e. TFS Radio Plan, DPS Radio Plan, Robert Mueller Airport (Austin) Blackhawk helicopter presets -- all radios).
In the last few weeks, rains have aided in preventing many of wildfires we have been having in Texas. With the higher humidities and the moisture, fires have slowed down some. While we still have a severe drought going on, we have had fewer and fewer wildfires in Texas over the last 3 weeks. The State EOC is still in activation over the fires, but it may not be for much longer. It all depends on how many fires we have (or don't have). The threat of new wildfires is still very, very high, however. I hope this information will help many of you in listening to the communications going on next time we have a wildfire in the D/FW area.
