I was able to get (and confirm a lot of it from listening) the following information from the State EOC last year when I was doing my internship there. Hope this is of some help. ------------------------------ Hello All, Over the last 7 weeks, I've been working with the Texas State EOC in Austin battling the wildfires (from behind a desk). Since May of 98', the EOC has been activated due to the wildfires across Texas. They are in their 79th day of activation over the fires. The DPS Division of Emergency Management bought approximately 20 radios for the TX Army National Guard helo's that aid in fire fighting. I'll post these freqs. near the end of this message. Looking through some of the 1500 e-mail messages I have received since I went to Austin, I notice a question about the Waco and Decatur Staging Areas. As of August 21st, 1998, Waco and Decatur have the following assets assigned: Decatur Staging Area Resources: ------------------------------------------------------ Overhead Personnel: TFS (1), TXARNG (2), Federal (74) Helicopter Type 2: Federal (2) Helicopter Type 2 Personnel: Federal (6) Air Attack: Federal (1) Air Attack Personnel: Federal (1) Helicopter Type 3: Federal (2) Helicopter Type 3 Personnel: Federal (6) Engine Type 6: Federal (15) Engine Type 6 Personnel: Federal (45) Dozer: Federal (3) Dozer Personnel: Federal (3) Note: The 2 helo's at NAS Dallas are under operations control of Decatur Waco Staging Area/Air Tanker Base Resources: ------------------------------------------------------ Overhead Personnel: TFS (2), Federal (78) Retardant Plant: Federal (1) Prevention Team Personnel: TFS (1), Federal (2) Engine Type 6: Federal (12) Engine Type 6 Personnel: Federal (36) Helicopter Type 2: Federal (2) Helicopter Type 2 Personnel: Federal (6) Dozer: TFS (4), TXARNG (2) Dozer Personnel: TFS (4) Air Tactical Aircraft: Federal (1) Air Tactical Supervisor: Federal (1) Engine Type 3: Federal (6) Engine Type 3 Personnel: Federal (24) Air Tanker Type 1: Federal (2) Air Tanker Type 1 Personnel: Federal (1) Lead Plane: Federal (1) Lead Plane Personnel: Federal (1) Helicopter Type 3: Federal (1) Helicopter Type 3 Personnel: Federal (2) There are also resources at Abilene Staging Area/Air Base, Amarillo Staging Area/Air Base, Childress Staging Area, Dallas Air Base (NAS Dallas), Ft. Worth Fire Prevention Center, La Grange Staging Area, Round Rock Staging Area, Stephenville Staging Area, Terrell Staging Area, Hillsboro Staging Area, Sulphur Springs Staging Area, Greenville Staging Area, Bastrop Staging Area, and Georgetown Staging Area. Now, on to the freqs. Here are the fire fighting presets used by the TXARNG helo's and the TFS: 01) 159.435 TAC 01 TFS Cache 02) 159.375 TAC 02 TFS Cache 03) 151.190 TAC 03 TFS Cache 04) 159.450 TAC 04 TFS Cache 05) 151.310 TAC 05 TFS Cache 06) 159.330 TAC 06 TFS Cache 07) 154.280 Fire Mutual Aid A (Decatur VHF Air/Ground) Texas FD's 08) 154.265 Fire Mutual Aid B Texas FD's 09) 154.295 Fire Mutual Aid C Texas FD's 10) 154.950 Intercity Car/Car (Mutual Aid With Law Enforcement) 11) 153.950 Travis Co. Once I get my e-mail sorted out again, I'll post some other presets (i.e. TFS Radio Plan, DPS Radio Plan, Robert Mueller Airport (Austin) Blackhawk helicopter presets -- all radios). In the last few weeks, rains have aided in preventing many of wildfires we have been having in Texas. With the higher humidities and the moisture, fires have slowed down some. While we still have a severe drought going on, we have had fewer and fewer wildfires in Texas over the last 3 weeks. The State EOC is still in activation over the fires, but it may not be for much longer. It all depends on how many fires we have (or don't have). The threat of new wildfires is still very, very high, however. I hope this information will help many of you in listening to the communications going on next time we have a wildfire in the D/FW area. Brian Scott Ft. Worth, TX ICQ # 14429283 ------------------------------------------------------ Also, I'm not sure how much use the TFS freqs. I also got may be around here in D/FW, but here they are too (I posted this on August 30, 1998) ------------------------------------------------------ Hello All, Here are two of the official lists I obtained recently for TX State Forestry and DPS.
