In Catalonia There are too important Fire Brigades, the rest are a small and private Fire Brigades of airports and industrial enterprises.
1. The Fire Brigade of Barcelona is the oldest Fire Brigade of Spain founded in 1848, it covers only Barcelona city area and have 7 Fire Stations and 600 fulltime firefighters and Nursing personal with ambulances. The firefighters age of Barcelona Fire Brigade are older, the middle age round in 49 years old, that's so much. The statistics of service and calls demonstrate that Barcelona Fire Brigade have a lot of technical assistance in the city, with the old structure of buildings and fire in flats and houses. It hasn't got a Fire Academy.
2. The Fire Brigade of Generalitat (State/County/District) de Catalonia covers the rest of Catalonia (Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona) and helps sometimes the Barcelona Fire Brigade in Barcelona City in important fire or service. It has 180 Fire Stations and 1500 fulltime firefighters and 2000 volunteer Firefighters a part of the 1000 Wild land firefighters contracted only for the summer campaign. It's the biggest fire Brigade of Catalonia it have a Fire Academy, ambulances with doctors and nursing, and the firefighters are younger 30 years old, the service are more variant because we have the forest fires more important in Mediterranean climate (Barcelona Fire Brigade haven't got any forest service) and we have more crash accidents, fire in flats, and more industrial fire (Barcelona haven't got anymore industrial flats). We have special team for the mountain rescue with three rescue-helicopters and a scuba diver team. I work in this Fire Brigade in Sabadell founded in 1859 a big city near of Barcelona 15 minutes in Car.
The number of vehicles and firefighters in fire stations it depends of the habitants, the risk and so much. In my Fire Station in Sabadell have 50 fulltime firefighters, 2 Volunteer Firefighters and 15 Wild land forest Firefighters. We have 2 Fire Trucks Mercedes Benz (One for Forest, One for Industrial Fires, and the last one, small and faster for the accidents on the roads and fires in the old city with very narrow streets), we have one Mercedes vehicle for accidents, collapse Unit, one 4x4 Nissan Patrol for Fire chief and personal transport, and Iveco Magirus Fire ladder from Germany a new truck with 30 meters ladder.
