NAVAJO EMS
Ambulance service on the Navajo Natio is provided by units of the Navajo Nation EMS and by private ambulance services.
Navajo Dept Of EMS -
A fleet of 24 ambulances (Type I and IIIs) are staffed by fulltime EMTs, 28 FT EMT-I, and 5 FT paramedics. The ambulances are dispersed across 9 field offices/service units and 3 field sub-offices.
The field offices are located at - Kayenta, Tuba City, Chinle, TeecnosPos, Fort Defiance, Winslow, Shiprock NM, Crownpoint NM, and Tohatchi NM. The 3 sub-offices are located at Monument Valley, Canoncito NM, and Torreon NM.
Dispatch is provided from the 7 district offices of the Navajo Nation Police. Only a few of the areas have 911 telephone service. Medical control for the ALS units is provided via UHF Med channels from the local hospital or clinic in each of the 9 service areas.
Class IC Life Guard III helo out of Page provides primary ambulance helicopter service. Backup helo service is available from AZ DPS out of Flagstaff.

Guardian Air Amb flies helo ambulances out of Flagstaff + ?. ?Native American Air Ambulance also has medevac planes in ?Mesa AZ. Grand Canyon Natl Park has a primary EMS helo and two backup EMS helos. The backup helos are ?at Grand Canyon Airport.

Navajo Fire
The Navajo Nation has fire equipment operated by BIA Forestry, BIA Maintenance, Navajo Nation FD, and independent volunteer FDs.

BIA Forestry - provide wildland fire protection to primarily the northeastern portion of the reservation. One small helicopter and about 10 small brush trucks are staffed during the summer.
