South Carolina has many County Fire Departments, and many County Emergency Medical Service Agencies, in addition to the County Sheriffs Offices. (Typically in the USA, the only countywide public safety agencies are the Sheriffs Offices). Most 911 dispatch is done by a Countywide 911 Dispatch Center. (12Dec00)
