Info from the March 1987 Firehouse - 3.3M pop - 3421 miles squared - 89 fire stations (includes 1 on a adjacent island) - 650 firefighters - work 8 hour shifts - 7 ladder trucks (only 2 are in operating condition) - 1 snorkel (broken - out of service - not in running order - not operational) - firefighter starting salary is $601 per month - highest firefighter salary is $808 per month - San Juan Metro area has 7 towns and 300,000 population - is served by 5 fire stations that have 10 SCBA - Metro FS has E40 + R46 - Rio Pedras FS (south) - Bayamon FS (W) - Hato Rey FS has E59 + L60 - Barrio Obrero Fire Station (N) - there are 7 hospitals in the Metro area - multi fatality highrise hotel fire was at Ashford Ave and Caribbean St - 2nd due Eng 59 from Hato Rey had 15 minute response time - 3rd due was Engine 102 from Carolina - ?L44 in the photograph
