Facts About Your Communications Center
Xenia Police Division and the Greene County Sheriff's Office combined their Communications Center in March of 1989 to form the Xenia/Greene Central Communications Center. Cost effectiveness and the availability of E-911 systems were the contributing factors to combine Communication Operators. The Center which is located in the basement of Xenia City Hall is under direct supervision of the City of Xenia Police Division and governed by the Communications Advisory Board. All agencies using the center share in its cost.
Xenia/Greene Central Communications Center handles calls from citizens for services and information from any of the law enforcement agencies, fire and paramedic departments served by the Center. They cover all of Greene County except Beavercreek, Fairborn, and the Sugarcreek/Bellbrook areas. The three largest users are the Xenia Police Division, Greene County Sheriff's Department, and the Xenia Fire Division.
All Communications Operators are certified emergency medical dispatchersand provide emergency medical instructions until emergency personnel arrive. Through ongoing training, the Center strives to make its operators more professional and responsive to the needs of the people served.

Computer-aided Dispatch System (CAD)
On June 7, 1994, a computer-aided dispatch system (CAD System) was implemented. The CAD system links data about each home address. In addition to the basic data, known medical problems can be entered by contacting the Communications Center at 376-7200 and requesting this information be entered into the CAD system. During emergency calls, this information is displayed to the Communications Operator and information is given to officers in the field. The calls and data elements are automatically recorded, thus cutting down the time for record keeping by emergency officials.
