Watch one day when its "slow", and listen to 1- Alpha and wait for a dispatch, you can see the units change their vehicle radios to the tac channel, and when they arrive on scene, you can see them change their portables to the tac channel. 2) Sunstar 4-D etc, I have not seen any action either, but that would follow the "trend" to assign at least 10 channels to the emergency services "group". All other seem to have 5 channels assigned, if they have more than a certain number of units. 3) Bayflite has 3 helicopters, Aeromed has 2. According to the St. Petersburg Times, Bayflite has three bases, Tampa Bay Executive in Pasco, Bayfront Medical, and a location in Sarasota. These are the permanent bases. 4) Central Pinellas Dispatch has a few radios used for backup. Hex radio ID's 2da0 1-A 2da5 1-E (Second Radio) 2da7 1-G 2dad 1-B 2db7 1-E (First Radio) 2dba 1-K 5) Encoding Radios (Sends the coded "teardrop" sound, Hex id 3dd1, and 3dfe) These radios apparently rotate among 2 distinct channels, depending on the day. This is probably so there is a redundancy for emergency dispatch, in case the central computer fails. These two frequencies may also be the FAIL SAFE frequencies for all fire units. 6) There are 15 emergency consoles for fire dispatch. Their radio ID's are really circuit numbers for direct connection to the transmitter sites (I think thats correct). Their channel layout is 1-A thru 1-India, then 3-A thru 3-J, then 1-J thru 1-Lima. Years ago there was a 1-M, but that doesn't seem to be the case. About 7 years back their was a "tac channel re-alignment" 7) Grid System. 744 1 mile wide, by 1/2 mile long, grids. Starting at grid 2(?) in the upper left corner of the county. The letter designation tells what part of the grid. A is west, B is east. If there are letters C and D, then: A is north west, B is northeast, C is southwest, and D is souteast. Any letters above this indicate a special map for a site. All malls, the Sunshine Skyway, and some large high-rises have special letters, but may not always be dispatched as such. The airport was/is always dispatched with grid of 379C, but it is probably has a detailed map (maybe that is it). 8) Station Addresses 1 455 8th St. S 5 455 8th St. S (1 and 5 colocated, Master Station) 17 2401 53rd St. S 18 4017 56th Ave N 19 6694 46th Ave N 20 911 Oleander Way S 21 4600 58th St N 22 1950 Pass A Grille Way 23 7301 Gulf Blvd 24 180 108th Ave N 25 300 Municipal Drive 26 101 164th Ave 27 304 1st Street 28 13500 94th Ave N 29 1195 70th Ave N 30 8971 Starkey Rd 31 13091 88th Ave N 32 10780 110th Ave N 33 5000 82nd Anve N 34 6565 94th Ave N 35 11350 433rd Street 36 13801 Evergreen Ave 38 7633 Ulmerton Rd 39 12398 134th Ave 40 2990 Whitney Rd 41 250 Cleveland Ave S.W. 42 151 Belcher Rd 43 682 Indian Rocks Rd. 44 901 Ponce De Leon Blvd 45 610 Franklin Street 46 534 Mandalay Avenue 47 1460 Lakeview Rd 48 1700 Belcher Rd. 49 520 Sky Harbor Drive 50 281 Countryside Blvd 52 700 Main Street 53 3095 McMullen Booth Rd 54 111 State St 47 1655 Tarpon Lake Blvd 58 3200 Keyston Rd 60 1056 Virginia Street 61 1941 Ed Eckert Dr 65 250 W. Heard them practiciting, and mentioned stuff relating directly to that practice on 5-G 13) Paging channels. The fire department using 460.6000 and someone told me a while back that it was GOLAY. I don't know, sounded like POCSAG to me. 453.125 is probably medical paging (SunStar?) 14) 12736 A "Backup 1-?" Radio affliated with this talkgroup. Possible EOC Channel. This radio is in the same range as the radios that were used by the Comm center when they were on protables. Also, this backs up my earlier suspicion that the EOC Channels were here. 15) Radio 9183(hex)was affiliated to 12640 (My old sunstar 4-F), and also Animal Control, but was listed as a Highway Unit. Possible "suerpvisor" and has an EOC channel. 16) 15232, 15264, 15296, 15328, 15360 are all the same agency, at least 2 radios of their's have all of the South County PD's talkgroups, along with PCSO Patrol (1-3) Fire 1-G and Fire 1-H. Possible State AGency. Maybe FDLE. In that case, 16352 is then probably just US Marshals RUN TRUNKER. Its a valuable tool. If you study the affiliation file (xxxxPAGE.TXT I think), it will show you what radio "affiliated" what talkgroup. You can find patterns. I don't have my old ones, but you can tell the difference between a Road and Bridge(?) unit and a Water Unit, by the range of the radio ID, thus helping you better identify channels. Also, my "old list" was posted in a previous email, thats what all these refer too. Sorry, I don't have a new list. I don't have my computer with me.
