===============================================

Fire - 1998 - all FDs in Metro Toronto merged - as of 7/99 they are all still using their seperate, original radio systems.

Radios - 7 radio sites - all use DPL031
Dispatch 1 - primary
Dispatch 2 - only used when Dispatch 1 is busy
Dispatch 1 - 414.7625 - not a repeater
Dispatch 2 - 415.3125 - not a repeater
Ops - 411.9875R / 416.9875in (units responding to and returning from incidents)
Tac 2 / Fireground 1 - 411.7875R / 416.7875in - Primary Fireground (FG) Channel
Tac 3 / Vehicle Mounted Repeater Access - 412.6625
Tac 4 / Fireground 2 - 411.8625R / 416.8625in - 2ndary FG Channel
Tac 5 / VMR Access - 412.7125
Tac 6 - 412.8125 - non repeaterized - patched to 154.07 - used in subways
Tac 7 - 412.3125 - non repeaterized - Supervisors Only

-----------------------------------------------

Canadian FCC info - 411.8625/417.7125 - ?VMR
414.6375R / 419.6375in - ?use
417.6625 - ?F3 input
417.6625 / 411.7875 - ?VMR
417.7125 - ?F5 VMR in
info received 6/98 (?came from TASC?)
doesnt seem to strictly match up to the known freqs or what the VMRs might be

questions - are Dispatch 1 and 2 repeaterized (if so, what are the input freqs) - can supervisors talk to dispatchers on 412.3125? - I have the Tac 3 and 5 freqs written down somewhere - I have a list of all assigned freqs from the TASC also (Canadian FCC)

More Questions - what about these freqs (which are the other halves of some of those listed above) - ?410.3125 - ?419.7625 - ?417.8125 - ?417.3125 - I believe that RCMA Magazine tackled this question ?12 years ago - if I recall correctly, the Canadian FCC does not always pair these freqs up in a standard manner and some of these unknown oddballs might be link or portable freqs for utilities or busineses

-----------------------------------------------

One firefighter in each station is assigned to monitor the Dispatch channels at all times to receive emergency dispatches and business/administrative messages. Dispatch 1 carries 95% of all the Dispatch traffic - Dispatch 2 is only used if Dispatch 1 is busy - this keeps the dispatching of any simultaneous calls from being delayed. The Dispatch channels carry digital messages followed by voice repeats of the digital messages. All messages are immediately acknowledged by the firefighter on watch duty.

Update on Toronto Fire extra alarm procedures - December 1999 - info from a Toronto FD member via Email

As of Nov '98 Toronto no longer has assist calls and help calls. This was done to equalize response levels in the six boroughs that were consolidated into the new Toronto Fire Services. The old assist call was an extra 1+1 above a first. The help call was an extra pump and the heavy rescue (if not already assigned) above the assist call. These two alarm levels gave us alot of flexibility without having to bang a 2nd. Radio terminology was simply "requesting an assist call...". The alarm levels are now: 1st = 2 pumps, 1 aerial, 1 heavy rescue or rescue/pumper, and 1 district chief. Each additional alarm brings another 3+1+1+1 as well as various support apparatus. Occupied O.M.D.'s are an automatic 2nd on the receipt of the working fire. Hope I've cleared it up,
