Crew turn off water supply. 7. Crew remove gear from appliance. 8. Crew remove ladder from pitched position. 9. Command cancels last order given, crew resume previous position. 10. Command used as necessary by instructor to point out mistake. 11. Only used in a potential emergency situation - crew to remain exactly as they are, until advised to carry on. 12. Given after "rest" and "still". 13. Command given when anything is lowered or dropped from a height. 14. Command given when taking gear aloft.

Formulate message. 2. Calling procedure. 3. Passing a message. 4. Receive a message. 5. Relay a message. 6. Completion of traffic. 1. Identify party using call sign. 2. Use appropriate pro-words to keep messages clear and concise. 3. Figures are expressed as individual numbers. 4. Time expressed as 24 hour clock. 1. Depress transmit switch. 2. State intended receivers call sign followed by "this is", then state own call sign. 3. Release transmit switch. 4. Await response. 5. Upon response, transmit message. 6. If no response after a short time, repeat steps as above. 1. Speak towards the microphone. 2. State message using recommended voice technique. 3. Spell long or difficult words phonetically. 4. Observe 3 second pause after every 30 seconds in lengthy messages. 5. Await reply. 1. Respond to calling procedure. 2. Receive message. 3. Acknowledge receipt of message. 4. Reply if required. 1. Operate radio. 1. Move power switch to "on" position. 2. Ensure SCAN switch "off". 3. Select desired operating channel. 4. Depress squelch control once/ twice to turn off. 5. Adjust volume by rotating control either to the left or right as necessary. 6. Depress squelch control once to activate. 7. Depress transmit button and check transmission indicator lights up. Operate radio. 1. Ensure squelch control "off" by rotating knob anti clockwise. 2. Select desired operating channel. 3. Switch on by rotating volume to desired level. 4. Rotate squelch control clockwise until background noise just ceases. 5. Depress transmit button and check if transmission indicator lights up. 6.
