My great-great Grand father James Blauvelt was also a Sergeant in Battery E and his brother Thomas was a private. James mustered in with the 42nd Pa (Pa Bucktails) in Smethport Pa. and transfered into the 43rd shortly after to be with his brother. I hav
copies of some of his records, along with some notes he wrote (that are very hard to read). Thank You for having this site, so I can pass on some more family history to my children.

I admire the reenactment groups and their attempts to keep our heritage (good and bad)alive. Today's children learn very little about history anymore and it appalls me that many high school children don't know where Gettysburg is, and. if they do, they ha
en't a clue as to the signifigance or magnitude of the events that took place there. And none of them know that the most tragic war in our entire history started over political agendas that were totally unrelated to slavery. I find it not only sad, but f
ightening.

I'm a E Clampus Vitus acquaintance of Mike Johnson's(from Southern Calif). I am planning some level of activity. To start I plan to purchase a enlisted man's uniform for Battery B.
You have a wonderful website. I'll be back.

I am looking for my ancestor Henry P. Wood that was in Company C, 51st Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War and came across you site. It was full of very good information.
