Frequently Asked Questions
Question #01
How are your prices and services compared to other vendors?
Answer #01
Most other vendors charge MYR 1.20 for scanning one photo at 300 dpi, and they will give you only one softcopy per photo.
For 99¢, we will be providing 3 softcopies (Original Scan, Colour Restoration Scan & Image Enhanced Copy) for each photo. 2 of that will be scanned in 1200 dpi.
1200 dpi is 16X more 300 dpi. Since 2 of the 3 will be scanned in 1200 dpi, means we will put in 32X more effort, time and electricity for you, at a lower price.
Question #02
Why are you using 1200 dpi, and not higher such as 2400 dpi or 9600 dpi?
Answer #02
File size will be too big for storage, and it will take way too long to scan.
You are not likely need anything more than 1200 dpi for long-term storage.
However, if you really want those higher resolution, we can work it out.
Question #03
I can digitise my old photos using my mobile phone to snapshot, right?
Answer #03
Of course, you can.
However, you may not get the best quality (as well as those colour restoration and enhancement services that we are providing).
This is because snapshots using mobile phones or digital cameras will never able to get the same quality as scanning the photos pixel by pixel, dot by dot.
Question #04
Why do you charge higher price for scanning bigger size photos?
Answer #04
3R photo size is 3.5 x 5 inch (17.5-inch square) while 4R is 4 x 6 inch (24-inch square).
Meaning 4R is approximately 37% bigger than 3R. This will also mean it will take 37% more time to scan, uses 37% more electricity and 37% more storage space.
But we only charge additional 20%.
Question #05
Other vendors are providing software removal of dust or dirt that are already imprinted in the photos. Why are you not?
Answer #05
Current software to remove dust or dirt that are already imprinted in the photos, is still not that good yet.
We have tested many such softwares, and all of them will accidentally be removing eyes, nose or mouth, thinking they are dirt, making the photos looking weird.
That is also one of the reasons why we will provide an untouched original scan softcopies to you, so that you can do anything you want with them in the future when the technology is better and ready.
Question #06
Why are you using JPG file format, and not others such as TIFF or BMP?
Answer #06
JPG is the most common and popular picture format, where it will be easier to upload, share, download, or use in any other devices such as digital photo frames, TVs, mobile phones, tablets and etc.
Question #07
Should I be concerned if my photos will be damaged during this scanning process?
Answer #07
While we will not be held liable for any damages, we will do the followings to protect your photos and get the best scans:
