Third Eye Blind Shakes up lineup?

It looks like Third Eye Blind's guitarist Kevin Cadogan might be out of the band. A message was posted on Cadogan's own official Web site at www.kevancadogan.com (http://www.kevancadogan.com) saying he has been wrongfully terminated, however, the message has since been taken down from the site, and nobody from the label or management was talking about the matter at press time.

The message posted on Cadogan's site was reposted on the band's AOL message board, and said, "Attention all Third Eye Blind Fans: After the performance of Third Eye Blind at the Sundance Festival, [Third Eye Blind drummer] Brad Hargreaves informs Kevin Cadogan of a unanimous decision to terminate his position in the group, to be effective immediately. The termination has been wrongfully executed by Third Eye Blind Inc."

Third Eye Blind's official Web site (www.3eb.com (http://www.3eb.com)) no longer has a bio and photo for Cardogan on the site, which would lend credence to the rumor, but the site also has made no mention of the split. An Elektra spokesperson for Third Eye Blind claimed to not know what was going on, and then didn't return calls at press time to clear up the situation.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the band's scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno was still on, and the NBC publicist for the show said that each member of the band was accounted for. Meanwhile, the group is slated for Mad TV on Feb. 5. Their new album, Blue, released Nov. 23, 1999, moves up 13 spaces on this week's The Billboard 200 to No. 52. A tour is also in the works.
