Before the Portland concert, Stephan Jenkins called Scott Lander at KBBT (107.5).
[Stephan and Scott are discussing the fact that Stephan will be staying in the "Scotty Pippen Suite" when he gets to town. Scott is asking Stephan at which hotel this is located.]
Scott: Is it at the Marriott?
Stephan: No, it's not the Marriott. It's not that big corporate thing you've got. This place is so cool.
Scott: The Benson?
Stephan: Huh?
Scott: The Besnon Hotel?
Stephan: Huh-uh.
Scott: The Imperial Hotel?
Stephan: Huh-uh.
Scott: Oh, man. The Heathman Hotel?
Stephan: Nope.
Scott: 'Cause I'm thinkin' anything that's called The Scotty Pippen Suite has gotta see a lot of action.
Stephan: Really?
Scott: That's my guess.
Stephan: Why? What don't I know about Scotty Pippen besides he plays with a big, orange ball?
Scott: Well, he plays with a big, orange ball, you know, and he's really good at, you know, that whole thing. But--
Stephan: And he can palm it.
Scott: And he can palm that ball. He's a big, tall guy, you know. But--
Stephan: Right.
Scott: But from what I hear, there's, you know, this-this is what, he kinda comes around.
Stephan: He's all about the ladies?
Scott: He's all about gettin' down with the girls.
Stephan: [yells] Hey ladies!
Scott: [yells in an annoying voice] Hey ladies!
Stephan: Right. Well--
Scott: I just heard that when Scotty Pippen is in town, here in Portland, he'll go into some of the local bars, and this is just-I'm passin' around gossip.
Stephan: You-you're passing around gossip right now, Scott.
Scott: Okay, I know. But I heard that he picks these women up, sometimes two or three at a time, takes 'em back to the Scotty Pippen Suite, and actually has sex with them in the hotel.
Stephan: Aha!
Scott: I mean, actual sex!
Stephan: Can you imagine? [Scott laughs] That's right. We're Americans. And, uh, and we're horny.
Scott: [laughs] We are.
Stephan: That's the way it is.
Scott: Well, that's why you got into music probably, right? Because you wanted to, um--
Stephan: 'Cause I was horny.
Scott: Yeah.
Stephan: Yeah.
Scott: Yeah. And you meet a lot of girls that way, don't you honestly?
Stephan: Um, you meet a lot of people. It's all good.
Scott: Are there any big stars or celeb-types that you've met on maybe awards ceremonies or shows that you've been on concert tours? Any poeple you think are particularly cool?
Stephan: Oh, I don't know. I kind of cruise on past them since I sort of walk around in my own cloud.
Scott: Well, you're pretty big now!
Stephan: Huh?
Scott: You're big!
Stephan: I'm 6'2", and 190 pounds, and I feel strong.
Scott: And you're in this big band, Third Eye Blind.
Stephan: And I'm in a band. And it's...loud. Very loud. And we're gonna go, and we're gonna play a place called the Schnitzer. And I just can't get over the name of this place.
Scott: Well, you've been in the Schnitzer Concert Hall, haven't you?
Stephan: No! No. Actually, and this-it's funny, 'cause this is, uh, I think our third time to uh, to, uh, Portland. It's also, this is, uh, this is the last time. We're in the fall tour
of the Bonfire Tour. And, uh, and, uh, Tuesday's it. This is it, man.
Scott: Are you on a cell phone right now?
Stephan: Yeah! And you know what? I'm at the gig, and I've gotta go, baby!
Scott: Are you serious?
Stephan: Yeah.
Scott: Okay, then. I'll tell you what. Thanks for callin'. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday night.
Stephan: Thanks.
Scott: Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall with Eve 6 on Tuesday night. And we'll be partyin' with ya backstage.
Stephan: Thank you.
Scott: Take care, brother.
