The conflict between Third Eye Blind and Green Day is officially over, says 3EB singer Stephan Jenkins.
What started with a few onstage antics at a Los Angeles radio station-sponsored concert last summer quickly escalated after a bottle got cracked over Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt's
head (see "Green Day Hires Private Investigator To Examine KROQ
Bottle Attack"), but the feud has now ended with a
kind, dual-band gesture to another victim of violence.
The 3EB frontman stopped by Skywalker Ranch in Northern California this past weekend to attend a private screening
of "The Phantom Menace," and MTV News' Chris Connelly pulled
the singer aside to talk a bit about the rather serious topic.
"Have I heard that you guys have patched it up with the Green Day guys?" Connelly asked.
"Yes, we did," Jenkins replied. "Kevin [Cadogan], our guitar player, and Mike, their bass player, ran into each
other at a flower shop, of all places. How punk rock is that? And Kevin was getting a card for this kid who got stabbed in the face in Kevin's old neighborhood in Berkeley and he told Mike the
story."
"Mike was really moved by this whole thing," Jenkins continued, "so Mike signed a card for him and we gave the
kid a guitar that was signed by everybody in the band, and it was
really sort of this example of much greater strife ending much
smaller strife. So it was a good thing." [RealVideo]
