Transcript of Stephan's Comments in AMA Pressroom

Q: Your feelings about tonight...

SJ: We had a good time, which is what we came here to do. I had fun, people were nice, there was good food. We said masturbate fifteen times on prime time television. We lost, in case you didn't know. OK. I wanna thank you guys for being you. Thank you very much.

Q: When are we going to get some new music from you?

SJ: We're playing right now. We just got off tour and took a little Christmas break. We went into rehearse for something and we played some new songs and it was really exciting. It was really great to be in the studio just playing new songs and jamming and being creative. I think it's something we're really looking forward to.

Q: Has the sound evolved at all?

SJ: The sound? No, it's exactly, it's precisely the same. I don't think we know really what Third Eye Blind's sound is. We just keep figuring it out. We haven't really figured it out yet and as soon as we do, we'll quit.

Q: What's it like working with Billy Idol on his new album?

SJ: Billy Idol doesn't have a new album, as far as I know.

Q: Aren't you working on one of his songs?

SJ: I did a...I wrote a song and Billy came and sang on it. I don't know what's going to happen beyond that. He's a nice guy. When he gets excited, his lip really does do that; it does all that curled up shit. He really does that.

Q: Are you surprised by the success of the first album and [couldn't make out the rest of the question]?

SJ: I'm terrified, yes, no, yeah, it's great. We're not really a part of this culture here. We don't feel like we belong here tonight, and I feel most of the people who work here don't feel that belong here as well. The connection we have is really with...is with our fans, the people who sort of get what we're about. And that's something that's grown a lot over the last year. That's the thing that's been the most profound. This four million sold plaque is...it's sorta ah...its psychedelic and weird...just like you people are.

Q: What is the meaning behind your group's name?

SJ: (taps the microphone about ten times) That's what it means. All right. Thank you very much though. We're done.
