The battle between Third Eye Blind and former guitarist Kevin Cadogan continues in the wake of the guitarist's recent ouster from the band. Third Eye Blind apologized to fans for the recent lineup changes in a letter posted on its Web site, www.3eb.com/basement/letter.html.
"For those of you who feel you've been kept in the dark regarding Kevin's departure, we're sorry and we appreciate your patience," the band said in the letter. "Though we would love to describe the situation in more detail, there's only so much we can say right now. We ask for your understanding and patience." A note on Cadogan's own site, www.kevincadogan.com, suggests that the parting was not amicable.

"The reports that Kevin Cadogan left his own band, Third Eye Blind, are false," the posting said. "Kevin was fully expecting to travel with the rest of his band and play on 'The Tonight Show,' but instead he was left stranded at the venue in Park City, Utah, as Stephan Jenkins and the others boarded a private jet to L.A." According to Kevin Cadogan's attorney, Joseph J. Madonia: 'An attempt to improperly exclude Kevin Cadogan from the ongoing activities of Third Eye Blind was made by the other members of the band and their management immediately after the band's performance at the Sundance Film Festival (last) Tuesday. Appropriate legal options are now being pursued in order to preserve and enforce Kevin's legal rights in and to Third Eye Blind.'" Cadogan has been replaced in Third Eye Blind by original 3EB guitarist Tony Fredianelli. Third Eye Blind recently released its second album, "Blue," the follow-up to the band's multi-platinum self-titled debut. Third Eye Blind kicks off its tour March 1 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
