Arizona FOWLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, PHOENIX: A man riding a bicycle was killed after being hit by the rear tires of a FESD school bus. The bus was filled with children on their way to Sun Ridge Elementary School. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 08/12/2004

Arkansas LAKE HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL, HOT SPRINGS: Three high school students, Petru Cimuca (16), the driver; Lucian Bencea (16), and his brother Andrei Bencea (15) were killed their car pulled out in front of a Lake Hamilton School District school bus while making a turn at an intersection. None of the children on the bus was seriously hurt in the crash. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 02/22/2004

Arkansas TRUMANN: One school bus driver was killed and another was injured when the lead driver of a school bus lost sight of the road because of a dust cloud and braked suddenly, causing a seven-vehicle pileup involving three buses. Arkansas SOUTH ELEMENTORY, JONESBORO: A South Elementory child, believed to be a second grader, was struck and killed when he rode his bike into the path of a school bus entering the school's loading/unloading zone. Arkansas SALEM ELEMENTARY, BRYANT: Isaac Brian (9) a fouth-grader was struck and killed after departing his afternoon school bus when the driver of a jeep ignored the bus crossing warning lights and didn't see the 9-year-old Benton boy crossing the road until it was too late. Connecticut STAMFORD: Anya Sky Vazquez (19m) died of hyperthermia when she was left in her grandfather's car while he drove a Laidlaw school bus on an afternoon route. The bus driver said he forgot she was in the car. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 07/26/2004

Florida CLEARWATER HIGH SCHOOL, CLEARWATER: Becky McKinney (15) was struck after getting off the school bus by a pickup truck as she tried to cross a busy six-lane highway with a raised median. A raised median only requires traffic going the same direction as the bus to stop for bus when children are getting on or off. It was when Becky stepped from the stopped northbound lanes into the still-moving southbound lanes that she was struck by a pickup and thrown 20 feet. Her family had been lobbying the school district for years to change the bus stop prohibited by district policy because of the danger. The prohibited stop was first claimed a fluke, it was then discovered over 300 similar prohibited bus stops existed in that school district at the time of the child's death. Florida PALM BEACH COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT, PALM BEACH COUNTY: Diane Kautz (15) was killed when her school bus slammed into a pickup truck and rolled over several times, tossing its nine young passengers so fiercely that some of them wound up in a pile five deep. A preliminary investigation indicated the bus driver ran a stop sign. The bus was fully equipped with seat belts but neither the students or the driver were wearing the restraints. Florida RIVERSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, MARIANNA: Shelby Davis (11) was killed when her backpack got caught in a school bus door as she departed her school bus. She was the last of 14 students departing at that bus stop. She was dragged 60-feet by her school bus before falling free and being crushed by its passenger-side rear tires. She died the next day. Georgia DOOLY COUNTY ELRMENTARY SCHOOL, VIENNA: Alexia Merrell (6), a kindergartner died when she was run over and crushed by her own school bus. Several other students departed at the same stop and went to the right side of the road, but Alexia was to cross the road in front of the bus, reports said. It was not her regular bus stop, but a stop the girl occasionally got off to stay with someone after school. The girl apparently was standing in a blind spot when she was hit. Georgia COBB COUNTY SCHOOLS, MARIETTA: Ramil Mehta (5), a kindergartner at Addison Elementary School, was killed after being hit by the bus that had just brought him home. The 55-year-old bus driver told police she thought the boy had already crossed the street when she dropped him off and began driving away. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 11/11/2004

Iowa MOUNT PLEASANT: Richard Harbin (10), of Lockridge, was killed when the 16-year-old driver of the car he was riding in pulled into the path of a Mount Pleasant school bus. The bus struck the car broadside, causing it to rotate and enter the southbound lane where it was struck broadside by a pickup pulling a trailer. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 09/11/2004

Kansas YODER CHARTER SCHOOL, YODER: Ariel Turner (13) was killed and several grade school students critically injured when a school bus crossing a busy four lane highway was struck by a semitrailer. Traffic speed on the four-lane highway is 70-80 mph in both directions and the full-sized bus must be brought to an immediate stop at a railroad track after crossing the highway. Kentucky FAYETTE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT: Kayla Schwitters (5), a Lexington kindergartner, departed the school bus as her bus driver watched, but lost view of her at some point. Kayla apparently crossed in front of the bus; some speculated she was trying to retrieve something she had dropped. She was run over and killed by her school bus. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 03/17/2004

Kentucky JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS: A woman (name not released) crossing at an intersection was killed when she was hit by a JCPS school bus making a right turn. Michigan HAGGRTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, YSPILANTI TOWNSHIP: Mikel Mills (5) was running to catch his school bus when witnesses said he ran from his home into the street in front of the bus. He was run over and killed by the bus. The boy's aunt said this is the first morning she did not walk her nephew out to the bus. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 03/16/2004

Missouri BOWLING GREEN CITY SCHOOLS, BOWLING GREEN: Samantha Griffith (15) a ninth-grader who was sitting in the passenger side front seat of her school bus was "encased in asphalt," after the school bus she was riding crashed into a dump truck loaded with asphalt. The dump truck was stopped on a straight, flat stretch of road and a road crew was filling pot holes in the road. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck, Keith Breshears (48) died after he was flown to a St. Louis-area hospital. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 02/25/2004

Missouri BRANSON SCHOOL DISTRICT, BRANSON: Noah Barnes (5) got off the school bus when he then probably fell under wheels of school bus. Apparently the bus, driven by a 52 year-old, then ran over the boy. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Barnes may have fallen after he got off the bus, which may be how he got out of the driver's view. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 11/08/2004

Missouri BENTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, NEOSHO: A first grade boy (6) was fatally injured in front of his 8-year-old brother when he apparently tripped in the street and fell under the school bus that had just dropped him off. The boy apparently was walking in the street near the moving Neosho public-school bus when he fell under the bus and was run over. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 12/16/2004

New Jersey EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL, EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP: A High School junior (17) began to give birth to a girl in a school bus while on the way to school. The bus driver radioed ahead and help arrived at the school minutes after the baby was born but not breathing at first. The baby was resuscitated by emergency workers but died later at the hospital. New Jersey CHERRY STREET SCHOOL, BRIDGETON: A fourth-grader, Marvetta Smith (9), chased after the wrong school bus. She was killed when her foot got caught under one of the bus tires. She fell under the bus and was crushed. The bus she was supposed to ride to summer classes arrives later in the morning. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 08/03/2004

New York WATERTOWN: Randy Come (45) was killed when he tried to squeeze his bike between a stopped school bus and a second bus that was passing the stopped bus. He lost control of his bike and slipped under the wheels of the passing bus. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 05/19/2004

New York STOCKBRIDGE VALLEY ELEMENTART SCHOOL, SILOAM: Mallory Eddy (7) was struck and killed by a car as she disembarked her school bus in front of her home. The 17-year-old diver's car with bad brakes swerved to the right to avoid hitting a car that had stopped directly behind the bus. The bus driver managed to close the doors in time to keep two other students from getting off the bus. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 05/21/2004

New York NEW ROCHELLE: Michael Coords (8) was riding a scooter in the street with another boy when he was struck and killed by a school bus. The bus driver stopped immediately after the child was struck by the front of the bus. The eight-year-old attended a school in Larchmont. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 12/08/2004

North Carolina N.C. YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION, GREENSBORO: Matt Helms (13) of Jacksonville was riding a tour bus carrying a youth soccer team from North Carolina. The bus with about 34 people, including two drivers and about 10 adults, fell over along a curve in a highway near Mitry-Mory, east of Paris. The group was headed from Nantes, France, to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris to fly home when the wreck occurred. A Regional prosecutor said "early signs lead one to believe" that excessive speed caused the crash. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 04/17/2004

North Carolina ROBESON COUNTY SCHOOLS, LUMBERTON: Shelia Hernandez (6) was killed as she tried to board her stopped school bus when a tractor-trailer struck the bus. Her mother, Maria, was injured, along with nine children aboard the bus and the truck driver. The truck driver told troopers that he was reaching for a cell phone on the floorboard of the 18-wheeler when it rear-ended the bus. The force of the crash propelled the bus about 200 feet and into the yards of nearby houses. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 01/13/2004

North Carolina PETERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, RED SPRINGS: Miguel Cubas Posada (6), a kindergartner, was struck and killed by a car driven by a subtitute teacher as he crossed the road to board a stopped school bus. The driver told school officials that a slight mist and a light fog covered the roadway when the child was struck. The teacher was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to stop for a stopped school bus. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 10/20/2004

Oregon HALLMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, SALEM: Topaz Luna (9) was standing on the side of at a bus stop talking with friends when he turned toward the road. He was struck in the head and killed by the mirror of a passing Salem Public Works Ford F350 pickup truck. The driver of the pickup was not charged. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 06/03/2004

Pennsylvania LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL, BETHLEHEM: James Smith (16) was killed when the car he was riding as a passenger drove into the path of a Bethlehem Area School District school bus. A 16-year-old driver of the car and two other 16-year-old passengers were badly injured in the crash but are expected to recover. It was reported the driver had a "significant amount" of marijuana in her blood when she crashed into the empty school bus on the first day of school. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 08/31/2004

South Carolina MCGROREY-LISTON ELEMENTARY, WESTERN FAIRFIELD COUNTY: Sophia Woodard (34) was killed and dozens of children injured when her school bus carrying about 40 children crashed into a delivery truck that ran a stop sign. Her sister said Sophia had turned her love of children into a part-time job driving them to school. Woodard was the wife of another bus driver, mother of three children and an active member at Hassion Hill Baptist Church in Winnsboro. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 10/07/2004

Tennessee BRADLEY CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL, BRADLEY COUNTY: Rocky Joe Dockery (15) died of head injuries at the hospital the next day after he jumped feet first from a school bus window and struck his head on the curb when the bus driver would not stop to let him depart at an unauthorised place. Texas ALIEF INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, HUSTON AREA: Fatima Romero (4) was walking with her father to meet her 7-year-old brother departing the school bus. The press reported she slipped away from the father's hand, darted to the side of the bus without the bus driver's knowledge as the bus was leaving the bus stop. The bus, with a six-year driver behind the wheel, ran over the child, killing her. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 09/03/2004

Utah CRECENT VIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL, SANDY: Kade Rosemann (14) rode his bike into the side of the bus and was dragged under the rear passenger-side tire. Even though the bus was traveling under 30 mph, it had no time to stop. Investigators believe the boy was killed instantly. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 05/27/2004

Virginia RICHMOND: Miguel Dominguez (41) drove his car out of an apartment complex and in front of a school bus without stopping at a stop sign. The school bus broadsided the car. Two passengers in the car were injured and Dominguez died later at the hospital. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 02/17/2004

Washington RENTON SCHOOL DISTRICT, RENTON: A 57-year-old man was struck and killed by a school bus as the 66-year-old bus driver made a right-hand at an intersection. The veteran bus driver has worked for the district for 10 years and has a good driving record. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 11/09/2004

West Virginia RICHMOND: Melissa Thompson (38) was doing her morning bus check when she walked down the driveway of the bus garage and walked behind a moving school bus backing up with its warning lights on. Wisconson KEWASKUM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, KEWASKUM: David Sabish (4) got off his school bus and after the crossing gate closed and the bus began to proceed the boy darted in front of it. The bus rolled over him resulting in his death. A 58-year-old bus driver was a substitute on that route and had 15 years of driving experience with the company. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 12/09/2004
Wisconson FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP SCHOOLS, FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP: Madonna McDonald (63), a school bus for 30 years, was fatally injured after being struck by a bus driven by a co-worker at the district's transportation center. McDonald was walking toward her bus in the transportation center's parking lot at about 6:30 a.m when a bus accelerated from its parking spot and struck McDonald. Canada GOLDEH HILLS SCHOOL DIVISION, ACME: Two high school star athletes died in a horrific high-speed crash (van). The Acme Redmen high school team bus was t-boned by a pickup truck. Four other people, three of them students, were left in critical condition while seven others suffered less severe injuries. Canada GRAND-BARACHOIS, N.B.: A five-year-old boy (name not released) while waitimg for his school bus outside his home died when he stepped in front of the bus and the roads were extremely wet and slippery. NO MEMORY PAGES FOUND 04/06/2004

Canada THUNDER BAY, ONT: Allyceea Ennis (4) was was found dead on the floor of her school bus after a 20 minute trip. A post-mortem established the cause of death as pressure to the neck "connected to a balaclava" she had been wearing. It is not known what mechanism initiated the presure. 02/12/2004

Canada SHERBROOK: A seven-year-old boy was killed when he was crushed by a school bus he had just got off. Reportedly the boy's glove fell on the ground and he fell down also at the same time. He tried to get up, but the bus was turning and caught him. He apparently was dragged several metres before the driver became aware of what had happened and stopped the bus. 12/06/2004

Missouri	BRANSON SCHOOL DISTRICT, BRANSON: Noah Barnes (5) got off the school bus when he then probably fell under wheels of school bus. Apparently the bus, driven by a 52 year-old, then ran over the boy. Missouri	BENTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, NEOSHO: A first grade boy (6) was fatally injured in front of his 8-year-old brother when he apparently tripped in the street and fell under the school bus that had just dropped him off. New Jersey	EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL, EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP: A High School junior (17) began to give birth to a girl in a school bus while on the way to school. The bus driver radioed ahead and help arrived at the school minutes after the baby was born but not breathing at first. The baby was resuscitated by emergency workers but died later at the hospital. New Jersey	CHERRY STREET SCHOOL, BRIDGETON: A fourth-grader, Marvetta Smith (9), chased after the wrong school bus. She was killed when her foot got caught under one of the bus tires. The 17-year-old diver's car with bad brakes swerved to the right to avoid hitting a car that had stopped directly behind the bus. North Carolina	N.C. YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION, GREENSBORO: Matt Helms (13) of Jacksonville was riding a tour bus carrying a youth soccer team from North Carolina. The bus with about 34 people, including two drivers and about 10 adults, fell over along a curve in a highway near Mitry-Mory, east of Paris. The group was headed from Nantes, France, to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris to fly home when the wreck occurred. North Carolina	ROBESON COUNTY SCHOOLS, LUMBERTON: Shelia Hernandez (6) was killed as she tried to board her stopped school bus when a tractor-trailer struck the bus. Her mother, Maria, was injured, along with nine children aboard the bus and the truck driver. The truck driver told troopers that he was reaching for a cell phone on the floorboard of the 18-wheeler when it rear-ended the bus. North Carolina	PETERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, RED SPRINGS: Miguel Cubas Posada (6), a kindergartner, was struck and killed by a car driven by a subtitute teacher as he crossed the road to board a stopped school bus. The driver told school officials that a slight mist and a light fog covered the roadway when the child was struck. Pennsylvania	LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL, BETHLEHEM: James Smith (16) was killed when the car he was riding as a passenger drove into the path of a Bethlehem Area School District school bus. A 16-year-old driver of the car and two other 16-year-old passengers were badly injured in the crash but are expected to recover. South Carolina	MCGROREY-LISTON ELEMENTARY, WESTERN FAIRFIELD COUNTY: Sophia Woodard (34) was killed and dozens of children injured when her school bus carrying about 40 children crashed into a delivery truck that ran a stop sign. Her sister said Sophia had turned her love of children into a part-time job driving them to school. The press reported she slipped away from the father's hand, darted to the side of the bus without the bus driver's knowledge as the bus was leaving the bus stop. Utah	CRECENT VIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL, SANDY: Kade Rosemann (14) rode his bike into the side of the bus and was dragged under the rear passenger-side tire. Wisconson	FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP SCHOOLS, FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP: Madonna McDonald (63), a school bus for 30 years, was fatally injured after being struck by a bus driven by a co-worker at the district's transportation center. McDonald was walking toward her bus in the transportation center's parking lot at about 6:30 a.m when a bus accelerated from its parking spot and struck McDonald. Canada	GOLDEH HILLS SCHOOL DIVISION, ACME: Two high school star athletes died in a horrific high-speed crash (van). The Acme Redmen high school team bus was t-boned by a pickup truck. Canada	SHERBROOK: A seven-year-old boy was killed when he was crushed by a school bus he had just got off. Reportedly the boy's glove fell on the ground and he fell down also at the same time. He tried to get up, but the bus was turning and caught him. He apparently was dragged several metres before the driver became aware of what had happened and stopped the bus.	12/06/2004
