The Department of Information Technology is pursuing the following:

Self-study was prepared and
submitted to Sec. Enriquez on May,
and the BSIT team is doing ongoing
review. The team identified a number
of areas for improvement, and
improvements are being
implemented.
BS in Information
Technology: Continue to
improve the content and
delivery of the BS IT program
Establish curriculum

Formulate procedures for
curriculum review
ongoing: Review curriculum
Curriculum committee was
established, and a number of courses
were reviewed. This has resulted in a
reformulation of the learning
outcomes for some courses. Also, the
curriculum committee has started to
formulate a course assessment
procedure.
BS in Information
Technology: Increase
enrollment in IT programs
On-going Enrollment is increasing steadily and
currently stands at over 3000
students. Department also redesigned
its first year courses to make them
more attractive to IT-majors.

Institutionalize a Strategic
Faculty development program
Start a complete profiling of
current faculty
Survey was conducted on the IT
development needs of the faculty, a
JAVA class is proposed to be started
at the KorPhil IT center specifically
for the BSIT faculty
Graduate Program: Create a
proposal for an MS in
Information Technology
Submit proposal A number of preliminary course
proposals have been created.
However, the accreditation team
strongly recommended that the
Department only pursue a full MS
program if it is able to hire more
faculties over and above the
necessary new positions.
Research: Improve its
research output, as measured
by journal publications,
papers in refereed conference
proceedings, and externally
funded research grants
Establish a departmental
research committee.
Participate in College of IT
research seminars
Committee was established.
Members of the department will
organize College of IT research
seminars.

Professional Organizations:
Continue and increase its

starting to establish a prominent

Public awareness: Increase
public awareness of the
Department of Information
Technology, its programs and its

public awareness.
Implement plan
The Department of IT has plans
to establish a web site and to
erect a billboard, which the
Department intends to use to
make the public aware of its
programs and research.
IT Alumni Association Establish an IT Alumni
association
The Department hosts a party for
each group of graduating
students. It hopes that this will
lead to the establishment of an
IT alumni association.
