    SECURITY LEVELS

    Level l - Open dormitories without a secure perimeter.
    Level ll - Open dormitories with secure perimeter fences and armed coverage.
    Level lll - Individual cells, fenced perimeters and armed coverage.
    Level lV - Cells, fenced or walled perimeters, electronic security, more staff and armed officers both inside and outside the installation.
    SHU - Security Housing Unit. The most securee area within a Level lV prison designed to provide maximum coverage. Solitary confinement in tiny cells, no contact visits, high security, often windows frosted over.
    RC - Reception Center. Provides short term hoousing to process, classify and evaluate incoming inmates.
    Cond - Condemned. Holds inmates with death seenntences.
