Husband 1.0

The latest bug report:  Husband 1.0 - Still not working

A few years back I upgraded my Boyfriend 7.0 to the new and improved 7.1, but just like the earlier version Boyfriend 7.1 has a built-in problem with the automatic conversion to Fiancé 1.0. Not even Engaged mode will autostart, which made me start up that part of the program manually, which took some doing. Boyfriend 7.1 may work better than 7.0, but it still seems to have a mind of it's own, which makes me wonder if it isn't another bug.

Finally after a few years I have managed to upgrade Boyfriend 7.1 to Husband 1.0, which gave me new problems. Husband 1.0 still has the "mind of it's own" bug which makes the program very difficult to operate, and far from userfriendly. The more I try, the less it does. All this extra work just to get the system going is making me reduce active programs, and that means shutting down well used and also liked programs such as Gossip 6.4 and Shopping 13.2.

Another huge bug with Husband 1.0 is that the plug-in Sex 69 which worked so well with earlier versions of Boyfriend (I would say, up to 5.12) doesn't work at all in Husband 1.0, and has been removed from the package and replaced by Wishful Thinking 1.0. There are some similarities, but to access the more likable features in Wishful Thinking 1.0, you have to add a secondary plug-in called Beer 4.1. This secondary plug-in will overwrite the Wishful Thinking 1.0 lockup bug, but only for a few hours. As a downside it will also make Husband 1.0 go into standby, so once you have access to Wishful Thinking 1.0, you have to do all the work manually anyway. I'd like to see Wishful Thinking 1.0 replaced in the future with Ready - Steady - GO, with easy to use commands such as: Now and Headache.

If drastic changes aren't done to improve Husband 1.0 I'm thinking of upgrading to Husband 2.0. Unfortunately I haven't found any way to do that without going through Boyfriend 8.0, and knowing the problems I had with 7.0 and 7.1, I'm not sure the outcome will be better. Some of my friends have been talking about Secret Lover 1.1 which apparently installs itself as a hidden program. This could be an alternative, even if my friends complain that they have to setup the program everytime, since they have to share it with other users. It's also known that Secret Lover 1.1 isn't virussafe.

Maybe I'll just remove Husband 1.0 from the system, and with it all plug-ins and Boyfriend versions and choose to setup the recently published Female Companion 2.1. It comes with no plug-in, which seems to be a better way to deal with the setup. It also has a better understanding for Period 27.9, MoodSwing 3.7 and ToughMeNow 4.12.

I have no idea what would be the best way to go. I could stay with Husband 1.0, if you would hurry up and improve it. I'd like to see the following features in the upcoming Husband 1.1:
* A "Yes honey" routine to replace "Later"
* A list of resources, such as cache and active programs

As I haven't been using the Secret Lover program myself, I'd like to know what features it contains. The same goes for Female Companion. My interest would be even greater if the programs would include:
* Sex 69 - final version
* 100% virusproof

I'll wait and see what the features in the upcoming programs are, and until then I'm going to stay with Husband 1.0. Knowing the problems I had to install it, there have to be similar problems uninstalling it. Until you update the programs, I'm going to take more time for Books 7.2.

Back to the jokes?
