Parn

Parn is the main character of the story. He is a young boy with ambitions to become to knight and solely believes in vanquishing evil in the fight between light and dark. As a new war for Lodoss begins, his destiny leads him to embark on a quest accompanied by five companions to save Lodoss.

Parn has the potential to become a great knight but he lacks the experience. Headstrong and impulsive, Parn's wreckless bravery often gets him into trouble, but his luck, wits, and gradually improving experience allow him to eventually become the greatest hero in Lodoss, and knighted a Holy Knight of Valis.

Deedlit

Deedlit is a young and beautiful High Elf. She is haughty and playful and her personality is one that is liked by many. But she does have little quarrels with Ghim. Deedlit being an elf and Ghim a dwarf, trade sarcastic remarks about each other. But despite their little quarrels with each other, both Deedlit and Ghim respect each other and do not let their differences prevent them from becoming friends on their quest.

Deedlit is a High Elf, over a hundred years old. Her home is the Forest of No Return, the gateway between the Realm of Faries and the human world. She is the youngest in her tribe. Because some evil force is awaking across all of Lodoss, Deedlit is sent out to the human world to find out the reason. She values all life, but will not hesitate to kill those who threaten her friends. Like all elves, Deedlit is a powerful elementalist, and is one of the few High Elves to associate with humans.

Deedlit is attracted to Parn, but is also infuriated by his lack of interest. Her interest in humans began simply out of curiosity, but quickly grew to admiration as she fell in love with Parn.

Etoh

Etoh is a young priest of Falis who follows the way of light and truth. Priests of Falis are looked upon well by the people of Lodoss. It is believed that Princess Fianna and Etoh have an attraction between each other but nothing is really shown is the OAV. Etoh and Parn have been childhood friends and have a strong bond between each other. Like Parn, he is also from the town of Zaxon. He joins Parn on the quest to help Parn out and to also gain some experience while doing so.

Etoh is skilled in many preistly spells such as healing, blessings, protection, and warding spells. Gentle and humble, Etoh should not to be mistaken for a helpless priest. He has proven himself capable time and time again in their adventures together. Although he is a priest, Etoh does not oppose combat. He carries around a small but deadly mace and it very skilled at the usage of it. Etoh joins Parn and his friends on their many quests to both explore the world and help them to defeat the forces of evil.

Etoh left his home village of Zaxon four years earlier to undergo his training as a priest of Falis. At his return, He saves Parn from a band of goblins and heals his wounds. He also helps Parn in another fight with the goblins to save Zaxon. Both as a sign of their friendship and as a chance for experience, Etoh offers to join Parn on his destined quest. His skills as a priest become invaluable as the party encounters the dangers of Lodoss. Although he can hold his own in a fight, his primary purpose is to heal.

Slayn

Slayn is a wise and skillful sorcerer who is an old friend of Ghim. He lived in the town of Zaxon, the same town where Parn is from. There is he served as an advisor to the mayor and to anyone who needed his help. But he left his home when he joined Ghim on his quest to free Leylia from Karla's control. Although Slayn and Ghim had their own little quest, they would soon join up with Parn and company.

Slayn attended the various schools of magic in Alan and became a powerful wizard of high reputation. His power of magic are, however, insigificant to the ancient mages of Kastuul. Many of the books he possesses are copies or actual texts from that age. Slayn's talents save the lives on his friends on numerous occasions, and though most of his spells are strictly defensive, when he gets into a magical slugfest, he often comes out on top.

Slayn also has feelings for Leylia and Leylia also does for him as well. They fall in love with each other after expressing their feelings to each other.

Ghim

Ghim is a dwarven warrior who is strong and brave. He uses a Battle Axe as his weapon of choice and uses it very skillfully. He is an experienced fighter as well as a craftsmen. Old but experienced, his rough attitude is enough to take down the toughest of enemies.

Ghim is on a quest to find Leylia, a Priestess of Marfa and also daughter of Neese, the High Priestess of Marfa. Ghim was hurt badly in a mining accident and was nursed back to health by Neese. Leylia, being concerned about Ghim's wounds, went to offer prayers for him. She then suddenly disappeared without a trace. Leylia had been possessed by the Grey Witch Karla. Seven years have passed and Ghim sets out to find her. Since then, Ghim seemed to blame himself for Leylia's disappearance. He stops by Zaxon to visit his old friend Slayn and to ask him to join him. It is here that he meets Parn. Having no clue where to start his search for Leylia, Ghim decides to travel with Parn for the meantime and also takes up the task of training Parn's undisciplined fighting skills.

Ghim may seem to have a cold exterior but deep down inside he really cares for his traveling companions. Especially for Parn and Deedlit, even though he doesn't show it.

Woodchuck

Woodchuck, Wood for short, is a cynical but good natured thief. He becomes good friends with Parn after meeting in the dungeons of Fortress Myce. Parn rescues him from the dungeon when the fortress is being attacked by the forces of Marmo. Woodchuck is a gambler and thief, but his intentions are certainly not evil. Woodchuck could have easily gone his own way, but his loyalty to Parn, however, has been cemented, and he joins his party as a thief and as a friend. When Parn saved his life, he realized that even thieves can have friends, and to him, a friend is worth more than a chest of gold.

Woodhuck is very street wise and knows how to think on his feet. He usually keeps a cool composure about things. Although he cheats when he gambles and fights, he is a thief with his own code of honor, and he never betrays a friend. After he joins up with Parn and others, Woodchuck becomes a valuable companion, and both his sense of humor and skills as a fighter come in handy during the course of their adventure.

Woodchuck, however, can't seem to shake off this bad luck that seems to be following him around. Woodchuck's fate was sealed when Karla possesses him after being driven out of Leylia's body. He's now under Karla's control but Parn and Deedlit are on a quest to free him.
