By-Laws

Greetings. I am Lord Dellamort, an ordained minister. I have a few answers to the questions that I am continously asked. Many people ask me why they should join the Temple... if they follow Azrael and care about cemeteries, the answer is self-evident. I do not ask people to join, but I do welcome anyone who wishes to join. Secondly; where does all of the money go? To restoring cemeteries, of course! Believe me, it does not go to me ( I can barely afford the computer I am typing this on). See the pictures at the bottom of this page to see exactly what we do. Third; why are we on Geocities? Easy! It's free! I am saving up to get our own domain, which will be soon! Always save money better spent elsewhere.

Our main goals: To do things in His name, to reconstruct the destructed, to fix the sacriledge and desecration of His sacred place-- The Holy Temple, the cemeteries of life.

To explore the darker side of our existence, for we live only to die, and to die so that we may live again. In death... we rejoice. In life... we are sorrowful. To touch His very existence, to feel His power, to offer Him praise, and to live only so that we may meet him in the passing-on. To feel what it is to be Him, and to let Him feel what it is to be us.

You may be asking yourself; who is Azrael? Azrael is one of the Arcangels. His job is to guide your soul on it's journey to the next world (as you would believe in it). I can safely say that all members of the Temple, especially myself, frown highly upon all depictions that would present Azrael as the "Grim Reaper", or any other demonic looking creature. He is an Angel, and incredibly beautiful in our eyes. To me, He is the purest of love, of thought, of romance... and will be the last to die when eternity ends.

Ten Commandments of Azrael

  1. No living sacrifices shall be given up in His name, for this is what causes His sorrow already; the never-ending plight to help take life.
  2. Necrophilia is a desecration, and utter blasphemy in our eyes, for that is not the way to share our existence with Him. Furthermore, without the permission of that person, it is considered rape, and therefore a blasphemy against the Temple. The body is a sacred vessel, something we need to reach Him, and is not to be violated in any manner after death.
  3. Ours is not a wanting for death, for in death we can do nothing for Him. Only by living can we show Him what it is to live, and only in living can we praise His name. In no manner do we condone suicide, homocide, or any other form of harm to any living creature.
  4. Only the serious, and knowledgeable should dwell in the twilight, for the mass power of the darkside can, and may, shatter a fragile mind. Azrael is not to be taken lightly, nor is He to be feared. He simply longs for understanding and human companionship. His power is great.
  5. Never enter the unknown by yourself; no, do not go in without the suppport of your fellow Azraelites. For once you have crossed over, it may be difficult to come back through the door to your own world. And if you become forever lost in the twilight; your existence, and your life for Him, will be null.
  6. Do not mess with restless spirits. Talk with them, but do not offer anything. Possession is an ugly situation. This is not to be toyed with! For example: do not sit on tombstones and invite the spirits to join you within your living vessel. For once there, they will not want to leave. Furthermore, if Azrael could not take them for some reason, why would you want to deal with them? If they can slip away from his powerful grasp, what useless human power do you have over them?
  7. We shall strive to avoid being iconoclasts. We shall allow others to believe as they will, so that we may find the peace to believe in what we will.
  8. We hold all living things in high reverance, for although they are unaware of the fact, they will meet him one day.
  9. We take care of our own, never shall we allow one of our brothers or sisters to go homeless, hungry, or to be left alone to fend for themselves in today's objectionable society. We shall always stand behind one another in times of trouble and despair; unless one of our own is committing a crime against the Temple or humankind. These individuals will be excommunicated posthaste.
  10. We neither condone, nor do we use any illegal substance to obtain altered states of consciousness. And such serious infringement will be dealt with accordingly.

Please allow me to use some abstract humor to make an excellent point. Answer the following over-abused question: Is the glass half-empty or half-full? Have you answered? Excellent. Now for my answer: "Forget the glass, drink out of the bottle, why dirty a glass?" Yes, there is a point to this indeed. There are more ways than commonly understood to look at things. Conventional wisdom has managed to mutate everyone's thinking to the point of extinction. Someone asks a question, and your brain goes through files of known and acceptable answers to give a humdrum response. So let us look at things in another way.

Not everyone will agree with my views on all things, but that is quite okay with me... for I am entitled to think for myself without anyone's permission to do so. Conventional wisdom once stated that we were the center of the universe, that the sun traveled around the Earth, and that man could not fly. On the other hand, some age-old wisdom still holds fast: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"; "It is better to give than to receive"; and "Love and you shall be loved". There is absolutely nothing wrong with abstract thinking, for it built the world we know today (unfortunately, we could not decide how to end all violence so we just ignore and tolerate it).

Here are a few thoughts to ponder. People speak so much of sin and how they shall go to Hell (if that is what they believe in... I for one could never believe that a God would send his creations to such a place, for he created them and should have known what they were capable of. Hell is just another human justification to scare people into behaving.) But sin is in the heart, NOT in the head. Sin is doing something against your better judgement. Sin is not what others tell you that they believe is wrong.

Membership

We were established in 1993 by the Reverend Lord Dellamort, thus opening the way to a new revolution designed to enlighten and explore that which is misunderstood and forgotten. We are the explorers on the darker paths of love, beauty, romance and philosophy. Our main goals are the restoration and preservation of cemeteries. This Temple is steadily growing, and if you care for more information, simply email me at Lord Dellamort

The proud card-carrying members of this organization understand, and know how to fulfill the truest of romantic dreams. At this time, Registered Memberships are available for a small donation of $25 per year, or $100 for a lifetime membership. The donation does two things; it helps us pay for the restoration of cemeteries, and shows that you are truly interested in joining with the Temple.

We do not solicit memberships; however, if you wish to be among the ranks of the romantic elite, to show your support or appreciation for what we do, you may become a registered member. You shall receive a delicately-designed member card, which will show the world what you believe in.

We have many people working on different things all over the world... you may be interested in joining a local group, or perhaps starting one within your local community.

If you are aware of your beliefs, feel that you are undoubtedly qualified, and wish to further our cause, please request information on becoming a Arch Lord/Lady. If you are accepted as a Arch Lord/Lady, this will give you the authority to form your own Azraelite group in the name of The Temple of Azrael. If you would rather just help an Arch Lord or Arch Lady, you may apply to be a Lord or Lady. There are no membership dues for "Archs" or Lords/Ladies.

We encourage each Azraelite to take it upon him/herself to clear up misunderstandings of our religion/philosophy wherever he/she sees them. You do not need to be part of a group to be speak out as an Azraelite, and you need no authority beyond being offended at ignorance and hypocrisy. Please understand that if you wish to speak as a member of The Temple of Azrael, then you are legally required to be a Registered Member. Do not misrepresent yourself as being a spokeperson for The Temple of Azrael until or unless you achieve that given status. But you can always defend Azraelism as an avowed Azraelite, proud of what you believe in.

Azraelism is not for everyone, but if it is for you, then we shall welcome you. Please remember, we are not a fan club, a pen-pal society, or a group of flakes. We are an elite group of individuals, most of us professionals by other trades, and are in no way desiring wishy-washy individuals whose only interest is their own curiosity. We are incredibly dedicated to our beliefs. We know what we are, we know what we want, and we know how to obtain it. Your extent of involvement is your own decision. All names and addresses are held in strict confidence, and you will never be under any obligation as a Registered Member, unless you choose to present yourself for further considerations.

You will notice how the stone has fallen over, broken into pieces, and is settled within a sunken grave? This is what it will look like after resored. The orginal stone is put back together, placed in concrete on top of the refilled grave, and given a new headstone. The process is relatively expensive to do, but for the love of cemeteries, it is worth it all.

Luckily, there is not much vandalism in the Colorado cemeteries. Yes, there is some, but it is not overwhelming. Most damage is caused by very harsh Colorado winters, the water gets into the cracks and then it expands as it freezes; thus cracking the fragile stone. Plus the sandstone that was used for markers wears away with no problem, and unfortunately so many used it because it was less expensive than granite or marble. So in reality, we are restoring gravesites damaged from nature more than vandalism.

Short Stories and Thoughts

I have chosen to place stories from fellow officials and members on this page, so that others may see what kind of love the name of Azrael holds.
I Will Answer Thy Prayers,
If Thou Wouldst Drink of My Life...

I Hold You Close Against My Breast
Lay Your Infinite Pain To Rest
I Pray To Azrael My Soul To Take
If I Should Die Before You Wake...

The sun set and the day was done, streaks of red and orange blazed across the starry sky and I watched from below in awe. The cold chill of winter flowed through my soul leaving me empty and alone within a loveless world. I begin to walk down a familiar path, I longed for Him, I longed for His electric touch; I longed for Azrael, my great Angel.

I walked deep into the forest, the moon had risen and the light fell upon me. I sat down and placed my hand upon my face, I couldn't hold back the tears any more they came full force. I began to weep for the world, for Azrael and for the loveless, couldn't they see that their Angel was here and He has been here with them all along?

The snow began to fall from heaven and through its beauty the promise came too, because His love is forever, He holds a golden promise that is never broken. When Azrael tells you he loves you, words alone cannot express the depth of His everlasting soul, He breathes the breath of eternal love. Through the blue mist Azrael came to take my hand, His grasp was firm and frozen; He told me not to worry for His love would one day reach them all. But I couldn't help but weep again, for the world had lost their souls.

He pulled me into His dark embrace, and together we were washed in each other's crystal tears. His enormous black wings unfurled as He wrapped them around me like a protective cloak, we breathed each other in and it seemed like I was caught forever in His gaze.

"Azrael, fly me away from here." I said.

His long dark mane of hair rustled in the breeze; "it isn't time, my love." He told me as He drew me deeper into His hold.

"I'd rather be with you than deal with the hatred, lying and mortal pain." I told Him, "Azrael you are what holds me up, you sustain me, you are my life."

He knew my words, He knew my needs and He would do whatever He could to fulfill them.

"You are here to show others how to truly love and how to come closer to themselves. I love you, my love won't cease." He assured me as He flew off into the night then disappeared somewhere within the clouds. I remembered all those nights alone when I was unaware of Azrael's presence, how I cried until I beat the hell out of myself, how my pain turned to fury that cracked open my soul, only Azrael could mend a wound so deep. I lost my faith in God because nobody was there, nobody eased the terrible sadness, and I was completely alone until the Great Angel found me. Every time I weep I shall think of you, beloved Azrael, for you know truly how pain feels and I will struggle on this earth until I can be free with you. I love therefore I am one with the Angel of my dreams.

The Temple of Azrael

This story is dedicated to Azrael.
Thank you Lord Dellamort for conceiving the idea about starting the Temple, without you this wouldn't be possible.

Through The Mist My Sun Will Rise

The waves of desolation
crash upon my shore,
take away the suffering
I don't want it anymore.

Dark Angel my soul is cracking, ease the pain for another day.
I stood upon the vacant shore; the sky was swirled in pink and purple, I held onto the image for as long as I could until it slowly faded away.
Azrael appeared beside me with His long black robe flowing in the morning breeze and outstretched His hand unto the world as if to say, " I am here. Just take my hand and we'll begin."
I turned to Him and held in His beauty; I was overwhelmed by His presence.
"Tell me Azrael, what do you feel?" I asked Him.
We began to walk along the shoreline;
" I want to tell you. How I've longed to tell the world..." He began to tell me His purpose. "I am the eternal love, I hold the promise that is never broken. I shall come to embrace the soul when it is time; I am the calming breeze to the burning flesh. I weep when one pulls from my aching heart, I bleed when one claims me to be a myth, and I die when one lives without me. How I long for company, my desire is a burden I wish only for the world to understand. Once one has placed their hand in mine I will never let them down, I will never let them fall."
Azrael smiled and the image of the rising sun burnt into my mind.

The sky turns to black and the wounds begin to bleed
My soul struggles within the flesh, begging to be freed
I am abandoned to you in awe upon my bent knee
Because Dark Angel your infinite love has captivated me.
